SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the United States, and Remedy Brewing Company in Sioux Falls is proving that it pairs perfectly with good beer and great company.
Opened in January 2024, the Remedy Pickleball Pub quickly became a local hotspot. Even on weekday mornings, its four courts are often fully booked.
“I love Pickleball. I think it’s rare to find a sport you can be competitive in at this stage of life,”
— Jessica Graeber, Sioux Falls resident
Graeber, who started playing two years ago, now plays regularly at Remedy. For her and many others, the environment is just as important as the game itself.
“The people here are friendly, there’s always an opportunity to play pick-up games. It just has a really great atmosphere and vibe.”
— Jessica Graeber
Co-founder Tyler Jepperson explains the vision: a space where Pickleball isn’t just a sport—it’s a social experience.
“We’re 100% focused on Pickleball, but we also offer a lot more—our brewery, food, and patio scene.”
— Tyler Jepperson, Co-founder, Remedy Brewing Company
Remedy hosts everything from children’s camps to tournaments and open play for all ages and skill levels. Special events like Over-55 Night, Ladies’ Night, and Newbie Night ensure everyone feels welcome.
In 2024, Remedy partnered with Joola Pickleball, one of the sport’s leading equipment providers.
“Our partnership with Joola has really helped us up our game and drive it to the next level.”
— Tyler Jepperson
“They know so much about the sport. Their support has guided us through upgrades in equipment and player experience.”
— Geneva Olson, Pickleball Manager
Thanks to Joola, players at Remedy now enjoy enhanced nets and other professional-grade gear, making the venue a top-tier playing environment.
Pickleball manager Geneva Olson is also an avid player. This weekend, she’s heading to Texas with a bigger goal in mind: breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest marathon playing Pickleball doubles.
The current record stands at 34 hours, 5 minutes, and 55 seconds, held by a team in the U.K. Olson’s team aims to bring that title back to the U.S.—the birthplace of Pickleball.
But the mission is about more than just the record.
Olson met Chong Kim (C.K.), a Pickleball player who traveled to all 50 states in 50 days to raise awareness for mental health, in memory of a friend who died by suicide.
“I had a brother that committed suicide as a teenager. That’s why his story really connected with me.”
— Geneva Olson
After his journey, C.K. reached out to Olson with a bold idea: attempt a Guinness World Record together, and use it as a platform to support mental health awareness.
Funds raised during the event will go to a Texas nonprofit offering grief support for organ and tissue donor families.
Whether or not they set the record, Olson believes in Pickleball’s power to build relationships.
“People come back because of the friendships, not just the game. If we can create a welcoming, friendly environment, the sport and our community will keep growing.”
— Geneva Olson
That sentiment aligns with Jepperson’s long-term vision for the Pickleball Pub.
“We’ll keep evolving, listening, and adapting to what Sioux Falls wants.”
— Tyler Jepperson
“They’ve created such a fun, exciting space. It makes me want to play here as much as I can.”
— Jessica Graeber
