Lorenzo Musetti has withdrawn from the 2025 Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell due to a right thigh injury, confirmed late Sunday afternoon. The injury was first apparent during his Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters final against Carlos Alcaraz, which the Spaniard won in three sets.

Musetti required on-court treatment from an ATP physiotherapist and visibly struggled with his movement in the final set. Despite the physical challenge, the Italian refrained from blaming the injury for his loss.

"I don't want to take any excuses today. Carlos probably deserved to win," said Musetti. "But the thing that was a pity [was] that I could not show myself, my game, until the last point. That's it. But I will take one week now and will not go to Barcelona, and I will play Madrid. Hopefully there I will be 100 per cent."

Musetti, who was slated to be the eighth seed in Barcelona, currently holds a 12-5 win-loss record this season. According to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, he will achieve a career-high ranking of No. 11 in the PIF ATP Rankings on Monday.

Following Musetti’s withdrawal, Frances Tiafoe moves up to become the ninth seed in the draw. The vacant Line 4 position will now be filled by a qualifier or lucky loser.
